Early Life and Family Roots
Dr. Meleeka Clary was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Andrew Lee Clary, Sr., an entrepreneur, and Larriana Clary, a model. With a rich heritage of Black, Cherokee Indian, and Portuguese ancestry, she grew up in Mattapan, MA as the sixth child in a blended family of eight.
Her childhood was not without challenges. Her father, though brilliant and entrepreneurial, struggled with substance abuse. Her mother, a devoted Christian, later battled depression due to the strains of family life. Despite these hardships, her parents instilled creativity, resilience, and ambition in her.
Discovering Creativity and Talent
From an early age, Meleeka’s talents in the performing arts were evident. Enrolled in Vicki’s School of Dancing and Acting at age 8, she mastered tap, ballet, and jazz. At just 13, she was cast as Harriet Tubman in her middle school play and soon gained recognition for her dramatic skills in nonverbal acting.
These experiences shaped her early love for the stage, but life circumstances would soon test her determination.

Overcoming Teenage Struggles
By her teenage years, both of Meleeka’s parents had fallen ill. Her older brother stepped in as guardian, but by 17, she was living independently, working to survive. At 18, tragedy struck when her father passed away, leaving her responsible for caring for her mother.
Despite dropping out of high school to work, Meleeka honored her father’s wish for her to complete her education. She re-enrolled in Madison High School, Roxbury, and graduated through night classes while holding multiple jobs.
Educational Journey and Career Success
Meleeka’s persistence in education is one of her most defining achievements. She went on to earn:
- Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice – Newbury College
- Bachelor’s and Master’s in Criminal Justice – Curry College
- Paralegal Degree – Northeastern University
- PhD in Clinical Psychology (in progress) – Walden University
Her passion for education was matched by her entrepreneurial spirit. At 21, she became a real estate investor, purchasing her first home. She later balanced motherhood, academics, and multiple jobs to create a secure life for her family.
Trials of Motherhood and Resilience
Life challenged Meleeka with health struggles, including a difficult pregnancy that required multiple surgeries. Despite these obstacles, she gave birth to three beautiful children and embraced her role as a single mother.
Her journey of strength and caregiving inspired her pursuit of Clinical Psychology, where she now applies both academic knowledge and life experience to help others.

Return to Acting and Modeling
Although she once stepped away from the entertainment industry due to harassment, Meleeka has courageously returned. Today, she continues to work on acting and modeling projects, reclaiming her passion for the arts while balancing her career in psychology.
